Missy Elliott is back. Following a seven-year hiatus, the rap superstar is making up for lost time by releasing two singles from her upcoming album, Block Party. Elliott teamed with long-time collaborator Timbaland to create the tracks 9th Inning and Triple Threat.
9th Inning criticizes the current state of the music industry, as Timbaland recently explained to New York radio personality Angie Martinez. “The music game is in a bad state,” he said. “So we’re in the ninth inning like World War II, and we have to come in and try to salvage what’s left of it.”
