After saying no to numerous reality show offers, Naomi Campbell changed her mind after hearing one word: “mentorship.” As executive producer and coach on Oxygen’s new model competition series, The Face (debuts February 12), the 42-year-old runway queen is sharing her experience with a crop of new talent. “I work for my title: calling designers, editors, photographers to be a part of this show,” she tells JET. “We take the viewers through a few life lessons.”
Peppered with Campbell’s brand of tough love and access to the world’s fashion and beauty elite, The Face places 24 con-testants— separated into
three teams that are led by Karolina Kurkova, Coco Rocha and Campbell— in a competition to be the spokesmodel for American cosmetics retailer, ULTA Beauty. “To make it as a model you have to have thick skin, especially women,” she says. “And you have to be passionate.”
